Which dell XPS laptops are the newer models?

Posted by admin 28 March, 2010

Okay, i’ve been looking at new Dell XPS laptops. There are the M1330 and M1350 which look similar, and the M1730 in the gaming section. So which one(s) are the newer ones, and which ones are more likely to get replace with newer (and probably better) ones? I don’t want to get a laptop and have it be replaced with a way better one. Also, does anyone have any of the laptops? Do you like them? Thanks for your time.

Usually the higher the model number, the newer the computer with Dell systems. I tend to buy Dell.

Your dilema is the quandary of life. You buy a system, then shortly thereafter a better one is built. That is the nature of the game. If you purchased triple the power of what you need to use the computer for, it will last a good while for you.

I have a cheapy Gateway laptop from Best Buy. It runs great for email and word – that is all I really use it for. It runs basic games. It was a clearance one for about $750. Works great for just writing and sermonizing for me – that is what I use it for.

My wife has a basic Dell Inspiron 1000. She only uses it for email and writing in Word it was around $600.00

However, I have a beefy desktop. I bought it used from the Dell outlet. It rocks. It came maxed out with 4 gb of ram, 2 large hard drives, quad core processors, fast DVD drive and card reader. I had a $200 gift card ot use on it so it cost me $400.00 – believe it or not. It came with no software; but I had all the software on an older computer it replaced. We use it to produce and edit videos for our church events and do other audio projects for us.

I personally would rather get a clearance deal or a used model from Dell and not put too much money into a machine because I know a better one is around the corner.

For me, it is better to replace than upgrade because like books, the machines really are outdated once they are shipped. It is just the nature of the beast.

    Happy computing.
