When MacBook is hooked up to TV, why is it in Widescreen mode with black bars on TV?

i\’ve mirroring turned at and have messed with resolutiat and aspect ratio settings at the macbook with no luck. i\’ve also auto adjusted the picture at my TV. It is hooked up through the mini-DVI to VGA adapter. My TV is Vizio VO420E and i\’ve the black macbook. Any recommendatiats?

    Your MacBook is widescreen, so it’s always going to have the bars on the TV as long as mirroring is on. If you turn it to Extended Desktop Mode you can set the 2nd monitor to a different ratio, but when in mirroring it’s always going to be “”letterbox” – there isn’t a way around it.
