What program for downloading music is good for a new Macbook?

I used to use limewire when i had a computer, but that gave me a virus. 
Now i have a macbook and i use iTunes but thats getting expensive. What program is good and works well with a mac?

use limewire for a mac it won’t give you a virus i have been using it for 3 years and haven’t gotten one!
