Fujitsu LifeBook P7010 (Pentium M 713 1.1 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 60 GB HDD) are my specs. I love this notebook. Great weight as I travel A LOT. It is a bit frustrating because it is slow and it was dropped a few times and the hinge is broken. The lid is just barely hanging at. i\’ve looked at other optiats but something this weight and size is hard to find for less than $2000. i\’ve catsidered switching to a macbook but it is 5.1 lbs and that seems really heavy compared to my current 3.3 lbs. Any recommendatiats?

$2000!!!! here in UK, u get a great laptop for less than £1000, i recommend you to get another laptop or send it to your manufacturer for repair, should be free if you have insurance or your still in the 1 year period.
Have you looked at the Dell XPS m1330?
I have a client that got hers a few weeks ago and it is sexy. But beyond that the specs are sweet for a notebook that light and small. It even has a HDMI port to connect to a HDtv…..Nicely spec’ed, the XPS m1330 can be had for around $1500.
You can look for replacement hinges for your Lifebook, then do a reformat and a fresh install of Windows should have it singing along once again.
