Are you familiar with Apple? If you are then yeah go for it. My cousin has a Sony Vaio (unsure of specific make) and I’m not really fond of the way the keyboard keys are “spaced out”. And the left mouse button is kinda like a “soft” press? Like you won’t hear it click and sometimes that can be a hassle.
Unsure of ASUS but I have heard heaps of people in my CompSci degree raving about them
Apple Macbook probably won’t be good for you if you’re looking for cheap.
All the best!
I would say no to Sony. They tend to have lots of bells and whistles but not the best build quality. I have heard good things about ASUS but have no personal experience. Apples are very good but a bit pricey. If an MB pro is in your budget then go for it. If you don’t need the power of the MB pro, then think about a regular MacBook.
I’ve had good luck with Fujitsu. They are a bit more expensive than some other laptops, but very good quality.
Unfortunately, well made laptops can be expensive. Also, with the exception of apple and a very few others, laptops mass marketed to consumers tend to be pretty poor quality.
out of them sony
Apple is anything but cheap, but they’re consistently ranked fairly high in terms of customer support, Macs’ resale values stay high even years after you buy them, Macs are actually useful for much longer than an equivalent PC (mostly because OS X isn’t a bloated resource-hogging OS that demands the latest hardware to run smoothly), you can install almost any 32-bit or 64-bit x86-based OS on it (XP, Vista, Linux, Solaris, etc.), and the software that comes pre-installed is actually useful instead of a bunch of crapware and shovelware. Having said that, if price really is your biggest concern, you can get a laptop with decent specs from pretty much any manufacturer. It won’t be anywhere near as elegant as a Mac, and in my opinion most of them feel pretty cheap (the bad kind I mean). There are some good ones out there, though, and once you install Ubuntu on it you’ll have the next best thing to a Mac there is. There aren’t really any manufacturers that only make good laptops, though, so you really have to look at each individual model.
