Posted by admin 23 March, 2010

i\’ve a Saty Vaio VGC-RB33GY, recently I installed Windows 7 Ultimate and everything is working fine. Except for this ate thing, Windows Media Center doesn’t recognize my TV Tuner for Live TV feature. It states like cannot find ate TV Tuner. I go to Device Manager and Shows a Multimedia Video Cattroller with a yellow mark which I believe means it needs a driver. I looked at Saty’s site and the 2007 update didn’t work at all. Need some help Thanks.

I would be surprised if you got anything to work with that. I am sorry to say that it is just old.

What I can suggest if you need to is get a newer version that is compatible with win7

    *note that used a PCI 1X slot…

The yellow quotation mark mean it has been disabled, go back to device manager and enable it then update the driver by right click the devise, click properties, click enable, click update driver, click apply and save.
You can download the driver from http://esupport.sony.com/ by model number.

Contact Sony’s customer support and tell them whats going on. There may be a problem with their download link or the file. Try re-downloading the update and if it doesnt work, ask either Sony or Microsoft.

Giga Pocket MPEG2 Realtime Encoder/Decoder board with TV Tuner is not compatible with Windows 7.

Hauppauge TV Tuner products that are currently compatible with Microsoft Windows 7

I recommend the WinTV-HVR-2250 (PCIe x1). I got it on sale after Thanksgiving and use it with Windows 7 Ultimate.

If you can’t find the right drivers manually I would recommend just getting a software program that can do it for you. There is a program I use which will find drivers for just about all hardware devices. The best part is it takes a snapshot of your system specifications and matches the right driver to go with it. Perform a free driver scan at:

My sugestion! Remember the application you used to use in your previous version of Windows for tv tuner. For example, I bought from Japan a notebook vaio FW for which I was interested to install Windows 7 Ultimate and came to the same problem of “sony tv tuner” driver. For me Giga Pocket Digital was the default application in Vista so I started to look for the same app. I did find it in japanese web page for sony’s support together with drivers for my generic series of notebook. In that case it was F series and applications’ name
    “Giga Pocket Digital Ver.2.0.2.10200_EP0000209081″.
I don’t know if that helps much but it’s only an ideea.

p.s.: Finding drivers and making it work with applications others than original Giga Pocket Digital, like Multimedia Center, it’s another side of the problem. Because in Japan they are using B-CAS acces card for digital tv tuners.
