Is MSI a 6000-29us a good laptop for it’s price? Do Msi laptops survive?

Posted by admin 3 April, 2010

I’m catsidering buying a notebook and after doing research have found the msi a6000-29us it seems a good deal for the features. A intel core 2 duo processor T6600 with 4gb memory and nvidia geforce 8200 m graphics and windows 7 with a 16″ screen for $530. The atly problem is before this i hadn’t heard of msi notebooks. Are they reliable? does anyate know of a similar priced notebook (under $600) with similar specificatiats. Or is this a good buy? I’m looking to use it for watching films, playing light games and doing normal schoolwork.

    That’s not a bad deal.
The video card is weak by today’s gaming standards, but if you’re going to play light games you should be alright. Honestly though, I would look for a laptop with a better video card because you won’t be able to upgrade the video card, so having a better one will ensure that you can play recent and future games without having to upgrade your motherboard simply to get a better GPU.

    As far as being reliable…
A computer can live for several years if you take care of it. If you periodically clear the dust out of the fans, and buy a laptop cooler (to prevent overheating)… any laptop can last a long time. Most computers fail do to the user not taking good enough care of it. A computer is also only as good as the hardware inside of it. MSI doesn’t make any of the hardware, they just manufacture the laptops. So that hardware is pretty much the same as it is in any/all laptops.

If you can spare $700 (I know you said under $600, but this is worth the extra $100) I would recommend this:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115675

It has the same hardware as the laptop you listed, but it has a much better graphics card, this will allow you to have a bit of breathing room for the future of gaming. Before you know it even “light” games will require an Nvidia 9800GT or ATI equivalent.
