It’s always possible to replace a hard drive.
if you take it into an expert, because I don’t think people on y!a are that professional.
Yes it is possible. Depending on the design of the laptop is how much work it would be. On a lot of laptops they have covers on the bottom of the laptop that cover things like the hard drive, the ram, the wifi cards, etc.
If it is not there, sometimes they do put it on the sides of the laptop.
If it is not there, it will typically be more work, never seen this, but I don’t deal with a lot of laptops and I never seen an MSI. But if you didn’t find it yet, You would have to open up the laptop. This can vary also, but typically you can start by seeing if you can pull any trim off, get to the keyboard and take that out, and then work on the casing. If this is what you have to do, and you aren’t the type to do this carefully or don’t have a clue what you are doing or feel comfortable about it, then yes take it to a professional, it will be cheaper than if you broke something.
As far as hard drives, hard drives are standard, even between brands. You need to know the type of connection it has (ide, sata) then also the size. laptops usually have its own size (just for laptops) then desktops have bigger hard drives usually. This can vary depending on the laptop/desktop though.
If you need more help I would go to http://www.techsupportforum.com , it is a good site, easier to ask these type of questions then here, Usually if i don’t know the model/brand and I can’t find the infor through google, I would ask for pictures just because this gives more information to work off of, or ask questions like I did here.
I do want to make one comment, to the person who said that people on here are no that professional. I may not work on computers for a living, or have it as a full hobby (too costly really), but I can and have taken apart computers (laptops and desktops.. and also cell phones, ps2 and other random things), there is not much you have to know how to do this type of stuff expect you must go slow, not force anything, and try to do research on the model if you can (newer stuff usually hasn’t been explored enough by others to do any research). I’m not trying to sound mean, but I just want to say that you can’t group everyone together.
