I wouldn’t know where to get drivers for the trackpad or any other driver needed for the Vaio is I install Linux. I’ve been running XP home on it for some time now and I’m very new to Linux. Complete answers please, fluff will be reported. Thanks.

If you use the newest ubuntu distro, it should auto detect your drivers and hardware. Ubuntu is a complete distro and not just a live cd, although it starts as a live cd. I just downloaded the newest distro of Ubuntu and booted it up on my Dell latitude laptop and everything went fine.
When searching for the right linux distribution, check its website to make sure it has USB support.
If the Linux kernel was released AFTER your hardware was released then you should be fine and the drivers are in the installation and should be able to probe your hardware for everything.
