The Acer Aspire 4710 notebook runs the wireless network adapter from Intel called the Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG. To make sure you have the proper driver and support application installed, download this network software from Intel and it will install the driver and support software for you after it detects which device you have on your laptop.

If you are using a wireless card other than the one installed with the mobile configuration that comes with the Acer Aspire 4710, but it is still an Intel wireless embedded controller, run this software to detect which wireless network card it is -

If you are using an external (PCMCIA) slotted wireless card, you must check with the manufacturer of that card for an updated driver. (or post an update to this question with the name of the card you are using and I can find the driver download for you)
