As far as I know you cannot get past the Vista password screen without knowing the password unless you have a multi-account installation.
You can try following the directions on these two sites:
http://www.vistaheads.com/forums/microsoft-public-windows-vista-administration-accounts-passwords/532-can-i-bypass-administrator-logon.html

If worse comes to worse, you can reinstall Vista and start over. Sorry there’s no quick fix.
Good luck!
With Windows Vista the main account Administrator users is not enabled by default so any fix that is recommended saying that there is a built in one will lead you the wrong way. Basically as the above post points out you will need to use some sort of Third-Party software to reset the password. The primary program I have found and would recommend is Offline NT Password & Registry Editor. It is available as a bootdisk or bootable CD. This offline NT Password and Registry Editor chages or reset the password of any registered users. It works on windows Vista 32 and 64 bit. I have been told that it can also detect and offer to unlock locked or disabled user accounts.
