How do you remove charcoal from a Macbook. ?

Posted by admin 20 May, 2010

My friend was recently working on her all-white Macbook in the same room as someone working with charcoal – the dust of which settled on EVERYTHING. We didn’t notice until we left the room that everything we’d brought in was covered in black dust. Most of it was easily cleaned…except the Macbook. We’ve tried canned aired, damp cloths, and Lysol wipes (not on the screen). Any other ideas? If not, looks like she’ll be taking a trip to the Apple store to have it professionally cleaned.

Sounds like you need to head to the Apple Store.

Make an appointment online for the Genius bar at the store (appointments are free) and those people are amazing when it comes to helping with a situation such as this one.

Even if you get the surfaces clean you have the worry of the dust having gotten inside. Have them pop off the keyboard and such and take a peek. Better safe than sorry. They will take a look for free and the Mac does NOT need to be under warranty.

Try some rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth…
