Fujitsu S Series Lifebook S6210 DC power jack problem. Can I fix this myself? If not, what will it cost?

The plug-in prong fits loosely in the DC power jack. Laptop loses power if the power cord is not positioned in just the right way where it plugs into the jack. It seems the problem must either be the jack or the plug-in prong. Is this easy to fix? Does anyone know of any sites with instructions for self-fix of notebooks? Can anyone recommend a good fix shop in Portland OR? I’ll be there on a business trip for the next 2 weeks.

Computer technician here….To tell you the truth, the AC adapter is not repairable, but you can spread the prongs to the plug outwards a bit away from each other that goes to the wall outlet so that it plugs in tight. There are aftermarket AC adapters available in computer stores or you can check on http://www.ebay.com. There are plenty of them floating around there. Make sure you match it up that is compatible for your laptop by it’s make and model. Hope this helps.
Hi there.
The problem is indeed repairable. I replace power jacks on a daily basis. It is quite an involved repair in so much as the machine needs to be completely dismantled, the damaged power jack to be de-soldered from the system board and a new one soldered into place.
I do not know any repair shops where you are as I am in the UK. As a price guide, I charge £70 to do this job……
Good luck with it.
