DELL XPS M140 Power adapter not working and a failure connected to old battery?

Yesterday, the power adapter of my DELL XPS M140 not functioning and i’m planning to get a new one. But before I do that, I just want to ask Y! answer users – do you think that my old battery – which is not or hardly charging at all has something to do with the failure of the power adapter. The battery life was down couple of months ago – so i want to know if there is any connection at all between the two power source.

Most likely the battery had nothing to do with the failure of the power adapter. The adapter may have stopped charging the battery before it failed.
