Are ASUS laptops any good?

i\’ve had a Toshiba notebook for about a year and a half now, and its totally dead. So instead of paying for the fixs I would like to just buy a new notebook. My friend told me she got a little ASUS notebook and she really likes it, and it was atly like 300. I basically just use the internet and type up homework. So i\’m watdering if their notebooks would be good to buy? Or if not, what should I get?

ASUS is considered a pretty good brand.
For what they are, they are OK… I’m speaking of the eee… Since she has one, play with it a little to see if you like it or not…
Keep in mind, you can buy a full-size laptop with a lot more speed for around $400 on any given week from your local best-buy, staples etc, on clearance or special… It will have a LOT more HD capacity, more ram (unfortunately vista, but the eee is running linux, and if you want really good security and performance, you can always install linux on the laptop as soon as you get it… I did… I never even booted vista, just formatted and installed linux.)
A $400 laptop won’t be as light or portable as the eee, but it will be faster.
In reality, I think the eee is a bit over-priced for what it is…. Also, try hers, see if you like the keyboard, as it is NOT “normal” sized..
asus is not one of the best, but with the amount of money u paying u can get a proper laptop, its actually better than some brand like acer.

Read some reviews on the laptop. Type in the model of the Asus and then type review(s). see what CNet has to say about it.
Asus is a good brand . But the particular model you are looking at is not that good . But its so cheap . Thats true for sure. But if you extend your budget a bit you can get a better model with either dell or hp
