anybody could find way to install sound driver for compaq presario SR2011WM-B?

i bought it at walmart. it had the recovery cattent at my computer. but i reinstalled the system with my own xp professiatal versiat. there was the xp media center at the computer oraginally. after reinstall, i tried to find the audio driver. i found that and installed that already. but the audio system still doesn’t work.

you might not have installed the right driver. see if there is any online help site and ask them they should be able to send you the driver to download. That is what i had to do but i have a dell
You can find it on
Windows probably detected the sound device and installed it incorrectly when you installed Windows XP. The device then becomes disabled until uninstalled and then reinstalled. The device will still be disabled if you install the correct drivers before uninstalling the disabled device first.
This will probably do the trick…
Go into control panel / performance and maintenence / system / hardware / device manager
See if there’s a device with a “!” or some other cautionary symbol next to it… Right click on that device and uninstall it. Then try to install the correct driver or it may install itself correctly when you restart the computer.

Correct driver is here if you’re not sure…
You need to know the sound chips manufacturer that is on the mobo. Then go to their web site and download the driver.
