School kudos: Flutist Grace Kim places 1st in contest

Grace Kim, an eighth-grade student at Valley Springs Middle School in Arden, won first place in the woodwind and brass category of the junior division at the recent Young Artist Concerto Competition sponsored by the Charlotte Symphony Guild at Queens University. The junior division includes grades five-nine.
