how to fix pavilion zv6000 slow and laggy?
hi, i have a Hp pavilion zv6000 for almost a year now, And i experience this problem that occurred in recent weeks. My laptop started to lagg when I’m trying to watch a online movie, like youtube. Also sometimes it laggs by itself when i keep the laptop on for a little while. I scanned for viruses and spyware and it didn’t seem to be the problem, and i tested my laptop uploading and downloading speed at www.speedtest.net and here are the results
7028kb/s downloading
1760kb/s uploading
Sometimes it doesn’t lag and sometimes it lagg and i cant do anything, like my whole computer is slow and laggy, i cant cancel the window because it takes so so long. And when I’m playing a not online full screen game, it did the same thing, i play it for a couple of minutes and it was fine, then it started to lag and i cant do anything. I usually shut down my computer after that. It like my whole laptop is slow and laggy.Anybody know any way to fix it? thanks a lot
so what are my options?

maybe you need more RAM
Sometimes a slow pc can be because of too many temp files. Run disk cleanup or ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com to maintain that. Another reason could be spyware so perform a spyware scan. Adaware and spybot are good starting points and both can be found at http://www.download.com
Your Internet speed is better than most of us, so I don’t believe this is the area of problem.
I recently upgraded my RAM memory to 1GB and it help speed my old HP Pavillion ZD7000. I went to http://4allmemory.com to get the RAM upgrade. HP wanted $1,200 vs $94 with this vendor.
If your problem is the video card there is not much you can do in a laptop since this can’t be upgraded. In my Laptop I have 128MB, but 256MB or 512MB would be better for games.
Although you ran some tests to check for spyware, adware, malware, and viruses sometimes these tools can’t detect them.
I recently got infected when I went to a UK site to watch an online movie. I used sysinternals autoruns to check what programs were loading at boot time and kill all that I could not recognize or was label as a security risk when search on the net.
I used ProcessExplorer, ProcessMonitor, and TCPView from sysinternals to check what activity was occuring in my pc.
I detected I had the Vundo trojan and used several 3rd party tools found online to erradicate the damn thing.
I had to boot to safe mode (F8) and run Norton AV to pickup more trojans loaded in the system restore files, I used VundoFix to remove some nasty DLLs from the disk and registry, and removed Java from my machine to take out the portion of Vundo that loads into Java.
It has taken a lot of time, but I think I’m closer to be clean. Norton has been running in the morning at boot time, at noon, and night to double check. So far I have not seen another alert.
I hate those %@$#$ers that don’t have anything better to do than screw us when we enjoy the net by going to new sites.
Anyway, your option might be limited to more RAM and continuous defrag of the HD.
I usually re-install XP once a year or 1 1/2 years with a norton ghost image to clean all the garbage I install over time. This also helps with the nasty viruses.
Hope you find the answer to your dilemma.
Cheers!
